FOP Peer Support Training Helps Law Enforcement Officers Assist Colleagues

PARKERSBURG, WV — The National Fraternal Order of Police conducted peer support training this week at the Resiliency Center in downtown Parkersburg, teaching law enforcement officers how to help colleagues cope with mental health challenges.

Sherri Martin, national director of wellness services for the FOP, presented the training as part of the Power in Peers program.

“The national FOP developed this peer support program to teach law enforcement officers how to be the best peer support to their fellow officers,” Martin said. “The thing that they trust the most is peer support.”
