UTICA, NY — The Utica Professional Firefighters Association is condemning remarks made by a city councilor during a recent budget meeting, saying the comments trivialized the serious health risks firefighters face from exposure to cancer-causing chemicals in their protective gear.
In a statement issued on Monday, Mark Nicoletta Jr., president of the Utica Professional Firefighters Association IAFF Local 32, responded to an exchange that took place during the Thursday, Feb. 26, meeting of the Utica Common Council with members of the Utica Fire Department.
