WEBB COUNTY, TX — An attorney for a Texas law enforcement union alleged retaliation and harassment inside the Webb County Sheriff’s Office tied to deputies’ political affiliations during public comment at Webb County Commissioners Court on Tuesday, May 26.
John Bradshaw, a staff attorney with the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas (CLEAT), read a statement saying the organization represents about 29,000 members statewide and works with roughly 120 affiliated locals, including the Webb County Deputy Sheriff’s Association.
Bradshaw said CLEAT was recently contacted by members who claim high-ranking sheriff’s officials have harassed union members because of who they support politically.
