Jackson Firefighters Seek Pay Boost To Match Salaries From Other Metro Cities

JACKSON, Miss. — The Jackson Fire Department leadership has been at odds before with the Jackson Association of Firefighters, the union associated with the International Association of Firefighters. But both sides agree firefighters need a big salary boost.

Resean Thomas, president of the local firefighters’ union, said the men and women who put their lives on the line every day are long overdue for a major pay raise.

“The union proposed a proposal for $12,500 across the board to bring us up to competitive pay with the surrounding departments,” Thomas said.
