Clarksville, IN — Clarksville’s police union and its supporters packed the town council meeting on Tuesday night, expressing frustration over prolonged contract negotiations. Officers have been working without a contract for eight months, and tensions boiled over during the public comment period.
Zach Stewart, an attorney representing the police union, emphasized the urgency of the situation.
“We’re closing in on the one-year mark, and at that point, we’re going to be kind of forced to invoke, you know, our statutory right to mediated settlement. We want a negotiated settlement,” said Stewart. “Provide a plan of action or take final action on our offer.”
