DONA ANA, NEW MEXICO — Dona Ana County Fire Rescue is one of the departments taking over ambulance services after the 18-year contract with American Medical Response ended on Sept. 20 due to concerns over response times.
However, the transition has sparked mixed reactions among residents and concerns from the Dona Ana County Professional Firefighters’ Association.
Isidro Ramirez, a Dona Ana resident, expressed cautious optimism, saying, “It is one of those situations where I do have faith in them. But there are times where you’re probably going to have to take matters into your own hand, just because there could be that delay.”
