FALL RIVER, MA — The Fall River Fire Department is trying to bring in more firefighters. The department has been struggling with staffing for quite some time, but the Gabriel House fire highlighted how much the department was understaffed.
“When Gabriel House fire happened, and especially once we upped our manpower to 38 per shift, we were already running low for a number of the manpower we already had,” said Fall River Fire Chief Jeffrey Bacon. “So we realized we needed a way to quickly increase our staffing so we could eliminate the need to rely on overtime.”
